MD to DOC Conversion FAQ

What does the MD to DOC converter do?
+
It converts a MD document into DOC. Text, paragraph styles, tables, and embedded images are preserved as closely as the target format allows.
Headings, paragraph styles, tables, and embedded images carry across. Advanced layout (text boxes, complex columns, macros) may simplify when DOC does not support the feature one-for-one.
You can convert the DOC back to MD on this site. If either format involved is lossy, the round-trip is not bit-perfect even though it is visually or audibly close.
Default settings target broadcast / web quality — visually identical to the source for most viewers. For archival use, pick the highest quality option in the converter settings.
It will look plain, because there is nothing to recover. An MD carries no styling information, so the converter applies a clean default — a readable body font, sensible margins, paragraphs separated where blank lines were. Headings are inferred where the source used a recognisable convention, and everything else arrives as body text. MD is Markdown, John Gruber’s 2004 plain-text syntax for writing structured documents that stay readable as source.
CommonMark plus the GitHub Flavored Markdown extensions, which is the combination almost every current tool understands. That matters because Markdown was never standardised in one place: tables, footnotes, strikethrough and raw HTML behave differently between dialects, and those are exactly the constructs that silently change meaning when a document moves between renderers.
It opens everywhere, but it is a compatibility choice rather than a good one. The binary formats predate the XML packages, carry macro payloads that many mail servers strip on sight, and are being steadily deprecated by Microsoft itself. Use them when a specific piece of old software demands them, and the XML format otherwise. DOC is undocumented in practice, opaque to modern tooling, and Microsoft itself has been trying to retire it since 2007.
Anonymous uploads are capped at a generous default; signed-in free accounts get a higher cap, and Pro accounts have no per-file limit. Browser memory is usually the practical constraint long before our server-side limits kick in.
Yes. Drop or pick multiple MD files in one upload — the converter processes them in parallel and returns a ZIP of the DOC results. There is no need to repeat the upload step per file.
Uploaded files and DOC outputs are auto-deleted after a short retention window. We do not inspect, share, or train on user files. Direct download links are time-limited and tied to your session.
Yes — DOC opens in Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice, and most office suites. Text, formatting, and tables are editable.
No. The converter runs entirely in your browser plus our cloud — no plugin, no install, no admin rights. It works on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, iOS, and Android.
