Is the older binary Office format still a safe bet?

It opens everywhere, but it is a compatibility choice rather than a good one. The binary formats predate the XML packages, carry macro payloads that many mail servers strip on sight, and are being steadily deprecated by Microsoft itself. Use them when a specific piece of old software demands them, and the XML format otherwise. PSD is huge, opens properly in almost nothing outside Adobe, and has to be flattened before anyone can view or print it.

Does the PSD output support transparency?

The format does, but the source has no alpha to give it — video frames and rendered pages are fully opaque by nature, so every pixel arrives solid. The alpha channel is still useful afterwards: it means you can cut a subject out of the PSD later without changing format again. PSD keeps every editing decision reversible, which is why it is the master format for design work that will be revised.

How big will the PSD files be?

Larger than you might expect, because PSD keeps every pixel exactly rather than approximating. A 1080p still lands around 2-5 MB and a 4K still around 6-15 MB, so a long extraction run adds up quickly. That is the right trade when the images feed further processing, and the wrong one when they are going straight onto a web page. A PSD preserves layers, masks, blend modes, smart objects, adjustment layers and editable text as separate live elements.

Can I convert only part of the DOC instead of all of it?

Yes — the page-range option takes `1-5`, `1,3,5` or `all`, so a single chapter, an appendix or just the cover can be extracted without processing the rest. On a long document that is the difference between a handful of files and several hundred.

Do I get one image per page?

Yes — each page renders as its own PSD file and the set arrives as a ZIP. The page-range option narrows that down when you only want a cover or a single chapter, and setting it to a single page returns one file rather than an archive.

Is there a file-size limit when converting DOC to PSD?

Anonymous uploads are capped at a generous default; signed-in free accounts get a higher cap, and Pro accounts have no per-file limit. Browser memory is usually the practical constraint long before our server-side limits kick in.
