What does the PNG to JFIF converter do?

PNG is a lossless image format; JFIF uses lossy compression. The converter re-encodes pixel data into JFIF, trading some fine detail for a smaller file. For photographs this is usually invisible; for sharp graphics it can introduce halos around edges.
What happens to transparency when converting PNG to JFIF?

JFIF does not support transparency. Transparent regions in the PNG will be flattened against a solid background — white by default. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG, WebP, or TIFF instead.
Is the PNG to JFIF conversion reversible?

You can convert the JFIF back to PNG on this site. If either format involved is lossy, the round-trip is not bit-perfect even though it is visually or audibly close.
How much smaller will the JFIF be than my PNG?

Typically 5-10x smaller for images, 5-15x smaller for audio. Exact ratio depends on the chosen quality level and the content — flat solid-colour images and silent audio compress far more than detailed photos or busy soundtracks.
Is there a file-size limit when converting PNG to JFIF?
