What does the PNG to JPEG converter do?

PNG is a lossless image format; JPEG uses lossy compression. The converter re-encodes pixel data into JPEG, trading some fine detail for a smaller file. For photographs this is usually invisible; for sharp graphics it can introduce halos around edges.
What happens to transparency when converting PNG to JPEG?

JPEG does not support transparency. Transparent regions in the PNG will be flattened against a solid background — white by default. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG, WebP, or TIFF instead.
Is the PNG to JPEG conversion reversible?

You can convert the JPEG back to PNG on this site. If either format involved is lossy, the round-trip is not bit-perfect even though it is visually or audibly close.
How much smaller will the JPEG be than my PNG?

Typically 5-10x smaller for images, 5-15x smaller for audio. Exact ratio depends on the chosen quality level and the content — flat solid-colour images and silent audio compress far more than detailed photos or busy soundtracks.
