What output quality should I expect from GIF to PNG?

My GIF is animated — what happens to the other frames?

Only the first frame survives, because PNG is a still format with nowhere to store the rest. If the animation matters, target a format that animates, or convert to a video container instead and keep the motion. PNG is a poor photograph format: a photo saved as PNG is routinely five to ten times larger than the same image as JPG or WebP.
Is there a file-size limit when converting GIF to PNG?
