Will resolution and frame rate be preserved in the VOB?

Yes. WMV → VOB keeps resolution, frame rate, and aspect ratio unchanged by default. To change them, use the Resize or Speed tool on the result.
Can I add selectable subtitles once the file is VOB?

Yes. WMV has no usable soft-subtitle track, so subtitles for WMV content had to be burned into the picture or shipped as a separate sidecar file. VOB carries subtitles as their own selectable stream, so after conversion you can attach an SRT track the viewer can switch on, switch off or restyle. A VOB holds MPEG-2 video, AC-3 or PCM audio, and DVD subpicture subtitle streams, split into 1 GB segments by the DVD spec.
Can the VOB hold more than one audio track?

Yes, and it is a real upgrade over WMV. VOB treats every audio stream as a first-class track, so an original-language mix, a dub and a director commentary can live in one file with the player switching between them on demand. VOB preserves the whole DVD payload — multiple angles, multiple audio languages and subtitle tracks all survive inside it.
Will the text in my WMV screen recording still be readable as VOB?

It will if you keep the resolution and raise the quality. Screen content is the hardest thing to compress well — large flat areas with hairline-thin text over them — and the default settings on any encoder are tuned for camera footage, where a little smearing is invisible. Scaling a recording down is what actually destroys the text, far more than the codec does, so encode at the captured resolution and let the file be larger than you expected. WMV is Windows Media Video, Microsoft’s ASF-based format from the Windows XP era.
Does VOB support chapter markers that WMV did not?

It does. VOB stores chapters as container metadata, so a long recording can be navigated by section instead of by scrubbing a progress bar. WMV has nowhere to put that information, so the converted VOB starts with no chapters; add markers afterwards with a tool such as MKVToolNix or ffmpeg.
Why does my WMV file fail to convert to VOB?

Almost always DRM. Some WMV files are encrypted at the bitstream level by the store or software that issued them, and an encrypted stream cannot be decoded by us or by anything else without the licence key. Files you recorded, exported or downloaded unprotected convert normally; a licensed purchase will not, and no converter can honestly promise otherwise. WMV is effectively a dead end: macOS, iOS, Android and every browser need third-party decoders, and some WMV files carry DRM that cannot be converted at all.
Is there any point converting between two legacy formats like WMV and VOB?

Only if a specific piece of equipment demands the target. Both formats come from the same pre-H.264 era, so neither conversion buys efficiency, quality or future-proofing — it buys compatibility with one particular device. If the goal is to keep the footage usable long-term, convert to a current container instead of sideways. VOB is split across files, may be CSS-encrypted, and carries navigation packets that confuse general-purpose players.
Is there a file-size limit when converting WMV to VOB?

Free conversions have a size limit per file, set by the type of file, and the page tells you when a file is over it. A paid plan removes that limit, so much larger files can be converted.
Can I batch-convert several WMV files to VOB at once?
