What does the PSD to WEBP converter do?

PSD is a lossless image format; WEBP uses lossy compression. The converter re-encodes pixel data into WEBP, trading some fine detail for a smaller file. For photographs this is usually invisible; for sharp graphics it can introduce halos around edges.

How much smaller will the WEBP be than my PSD?

Typically 5-10x smaller for images, 5-15x smaller for audio. Exact ratio depends on the chosen quality level and the content — flat solid-colour images and silent audio compress far more than detailed photos or busy soundtracks.

What happens to the layers in my PSD file?

They are flattened, permanently, into one composited image. Blend modes, masks, adjustment layers and editable text are all resolved into final pixels because WEBP has no structure to hold them. Keep the PSD as the working master and treat the WEBP strictly as an export. PSD keeps every editing decision reversible, which is why it is the master format for design work that will be revised. WebP is still second-class outside the browser — print workflows, older Office builds and some phone galleries do not accept it.

Will my CMYK colour survive the conversion to WEBP?

It is converted to sRGB, because WEBP has no CMYK mode. For screen use that is exactly what you want. For commercial print it is not — the gamut shift changes how saturated colours reproduce on press, so send the printer the original PSD rather than the WEBP.

Is there a file-size limit when converting PSD to WEBP?

Free conversions have a size limit per file, set by the type of file, and the page tells you when a file is over it. A paid plan removes that limit, so much larger files can be converted.
