Turn on the deinterlace option and the encoder weaves the fields into whole progressive frames before writing the MOV. WMV is Windows Media Video, Microsoft’s ASF-based format from the Windows XP era.
Can I add selectable subtitles once the file is MOV?

Yes. WMV has no usable soft-subtitle track, so subtitles for WMV content had to be burned into the picture or shipped as a separate sidecar file. MOV carries subtitles as their own selectable stream, so after conversion you can attach an SRT track the viewer can switch on, switch off or restyle. An MOV normally carries H.264 or HEVC for delivery, or ProRes when it is an editing master, alongside AAC or uncompressed PCM audio.
Is MOV the right target if the footage is going into an edit?

MOV is the container that professional timelines read and write natively, so the file drops in without a conform or transcode step first and survives being exported, re-imported and exported again without collecting another generation of loss. The price is size and portability: a container built for editing produces large files, and outside that world support is patchier than the universal delivery format. Convert to it to work on the footage and away from it to publish. MOV is the format professional editors ask for, because it survives repeated round-trips through Final Cut Pro, Premiere and DaVinci Resolve without generational loss.
Can the MOV hold more than one audio track?

Yes, and it is a real upgrade over WMV. MOV treats every audio stream as a first-class track, so an original-language mix, a dub and a director commentary can live in one file with the player switching between them on demand.
Will the text in my WMV screen recording still be readable as MOV?

It will if you keep the resolution and raise the quality. Screen content is the hardest thing to compress well — large flat areas with hairline-thin text over them — and the default settings on any encoder are tuned for camera footage, where a little smearing is invisible. Scaling a recording down is what actually destroys the text, far more than the codec does, so encode at the captured resolution and let the file be larger than you expected.
Does MOV support chapter markers that WMV did not?

It does. MOV stores chapters as container metadata, so a long recording can be navigated by section instead of by scrubbing a progress bar. WMV has nowhere to put that information, so if the source shipped with a chapter list it was in a sidecar file — hand that to the converter and it gets written into the MOV.
