Will my PSD have a transparent background?

PDF files have no alpha channel, so the result will have a solid background. To get transparency in PSD, use the Remove Background tool on the PSD output.

Is the PDF to PSD conversion reversible?

You can convert the PSD back to PDF on this site. If either format involved is lossy, the round-trip is not bit-perfect even though it is visually or audibly close.

What output quality should I expect from PDF to PSD?

Default settings target broadcast / web quality — visually identical to the source for most viewers. For archival use, pick the highest quality option in the converter settings.

Does the PSD output support transparency?

The format does, but the source has no alpha to give it — video frames and rendered pages are fully opaque by nature, so every pixel arrives solid. The alpha channel is still useful afterwards: it means you can cut a subject out of the PSD later without changing format again. PSD keeps every editing decision reversible, which is why it is the master format for design work that will be revised.

Can I convert only part of the PDF instead of all of it?

Only down to the first page. The Pages menu offers All pages or First page only, which is enough for a cover or a thumbnail. For any other page, split the PDF first with /pdf-split/ and convert just the pages you need.

Is the PDF side of this conversion searchable?

It depends entirely on whether real text is present. A PDF generated from a document carries an actual text layer and is searchable; a PDF built from scans or images is a picture of text and is not, until OCR adds a layer. /pdf-ocr/ does that, and it is worth running before any conversion that expects to read the words.

Do I get one image per page?

Yes. Each page renders as its own PSD file, numbered in page order, so a one-page document gives a single PSD and a longer one gives one image per page.

Is there a file-size limit when converting PDF to PSD?

Free conversions have a size limit per file, set by the type of file, and the page tells you when a file is over it. A paid plan removes that limit, so much larger files can be converted.

Can I batch-convert several PDF files to PSD at once?

Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.

What happens to my PDF files after the conversion?

Uploaded files are processed on our own conversion servers, nobody looks at them, and they are not shared. The upload and the converted file are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.

Where can I open a PSD file?

PSD opens in mainstream image viewers and editors. For web embedding, consider converting to PNG or WebP first since PSD is not always natively supported in browsers.
